A minor correction ..... you reported its thickness at 14.5mm. Actually it is 14.6mm thick. Being so thick is the reason I did not buy this GMT, it felt uncomfortable on my wrist. I highly recommend to go to your AD and try it on and then decide. It is a good value as it is a lot cheaper than a Rolex GMT. The Tudor Black Bay GMT (model M79830RB-0001) lists for $4,375. The least expensive Rolex GMT II with the OysterSteel lists at $10,700.

I have the blue Tudor date. It’s my Smurf because I can’t afford the white Gold Rolex submariner. Lol. I have the Aqua Terra blue dial and it’s too high. I changed the bracelet with a Artem sailcloth strap and wears much lighter and better.

This is THE best video comparison of these two; one is a dress watch the other is a tool watch. For me the choice is easy, it's a Blue OG

Hey, so how did you get to end up with the white dial one. What's your thoughts on the black one since you have or had both. I am stuck between the white and black dial and cant choose lol. Cereamic material and finish on black dial looks really stunning with its reflective gloss, and i am leaning towards the black for that reason. I am a little concerned if i am missing something out here from the white dial. Can you tell me haha what made you move away from black one. I have seen many sell the white to change over to black one but you the first one doing the opposite.

10/10 certain light conditions it becomes invisible, it difficult to read the hands, it’s very light, it’s £9500.00 worth it?

Own both and can tell you the red gets annoying after a while. Similar to having a red car, it gets annoying if you use it often. The batgirl never annoys me, as it pops and is also more muted. We are wired to react to red more than other colours, it is a colour which triggers warning (blood, dangerous food) etc. My wife says the pepsi is like getting a red manicure, fun for a day, then you’re tired of it 😂

The preceramic displayed in the video circa 2002 is not a certified chronometer. When compared to the submariner date of the same year which was. I personally wrote to Rolex in Geneva and asked why their no date was not so identified on the dial. They responded with gold lettered stationary that they will direct hdqters. NY to contact me to resolve my concerns. This was promptly done and I was further informed that there were many major internal and external differences between the no date and date models. As I was informed the NY Manager scensed my dissatisfaction with my no date model and arranged an exchange for a submariner date which I have worn daily since. Shortly after Rolex upgraded the no date model to a certified chronometer and provided the appropriate watch dial lettering. ee Rolex

Excellent advice. If I could offer one additional recommendation, never wear this watch in salt water, as it will corrode and create an oxide under the bezel, leading to a costly repair. Rinsing with fresh water is imperative but depending on the depth at which the watch was submersed in the ocean, it may not fully remove the salt.

This is my timepiece (specifically a D reg 15203 built in around 2005-06 that I inherited it off my late father) - Initially had mixed feelings about a 34 (Ive always worn 45's incl the Garmin Aviator watches and Breitling Seawolf) .. but I have to admit that after 3 years of owning it my 15203 has since been growing on me and I wear my Date as a daily, both casually and with formal wear incl at work. This model represents Rolex' soul and true vintage. . And as another commentator said, wearing 34's should be normalized.

I ve also similar wrist with 6.5 inch wrist. I m also hesitant about size of new exp 40mm (51mm incl. end link) on the other hand, proportions of 39mm also doesnt look right to me. Currently I ve IWC Mark XX on bracelet. I m considering to trade it with rolex exp 1

What a f’ng hack. I do my own fitting of bracelets & such…….jubilee is certainly the way to go. Paid $3K for mine surrendering my oyster, which I wouldn’t wear anyways. The polished center links are awful ☝🏻😉

39mm would've been better!! Crowd gaurds would be nice. There are sharp edges underneath the watch along the edge. The OP 41 is much more comfortable to wear , yet it's supposed to be bigger. So, Rolex, go back to 39, put crowd gaurd on and get rid of the sharp edges

My favorite Rolex ever. I know the BLRO is iconic and has more history but I feel that the BLNR/ Batgirl is the best looking. Furthermore, for the function of GMT (blue for day, black for night) the color of the bezel makes the most sense. I absolutely love the color of the blue, especially in the right lighting.

The Aquaracer looks a lot bigger, but it's actually only 1mm bigger. Do you feel the 42mm Seamaster wears a bit smaller than 42mm? More like the old model (41mm)?

  • @Hilighted
    @Hilighted 15 днів тому

Agreee. I have a 36mm OP in blue Explorer dial and it’s perfect and so comfortable. My wrist is 6 1/2”. I also have a Submariner 16610 40mm and GMT Master II 16710 40 and they also wear well. I do not wear my blue 39MM OP because somehow it just looks too big and overwhelming for my forearms. Weird but true. It almost wears like a 41 which is strange. Long story short, get a 36mm OP in your favorite color or a neo-vintage Rolex 40. Bonus: I also have a 36 OP Date with the stunningly and rare purplish applied Arabic numerals and that one wears smaller than my 36 OP. The cyclops combined with the polished lugs makes it almost look like a 34. Again weird but true, but fortunately I’ve had the luxury of comparing them all repetitively at work, home and while enjoying some wine lol.

Frankly, I can’t stand the nicknames or that f-ing jubilee bracelet on a BLNR. It’s fine on the BLRO but just looks so feminine on the black & blue it’s just obnoxious.

I just picked up a black dial from the AD a couple of weeks ago. It is currently settling into the collection. It was not love at first site, I was on the fence about adding it to the collection. However, I figured, even with no real premium, it was worth trying it out. It is definitely growing on me. I like the 24-hour hand, as GMT is by far the most useful complication for me. I travel a lot, and am expanding business interests into other time-zones. I think this one might even be bling-free enough to wear to dodgier locations in the world. I love the gloss black dial. It was one thing I found off-putting about my SD43, the more matte look to the dial. Personal preference. I put it on rubber immediately, a high quality Zealande strap. Try as I might, I will just never be a bracelet guy. I'm thinking of ordering an integrated strap for it. High quality rubber is extremely comfortable. Size... I'm going to go against the crowd and say that I find it a little on the small side. I'm a tall guy, with good-sized wrists and arms. So many of the Rolex watches I love, end up looking a little dainty on me. The Exp II is just barely into my size range. I'm sure the white dial would have put it more in my size ballpark (given the apparent larger size for light dials). I might it on the bracelet for awhile as the end-links should give it a broader wrist span. If only they had given it a glidelock, or even better the DSSD's fliplock (I owned one and I still miss the fliplock). Oh, and as a bonus, 2.5 weeks of keeping it wound and it is 2 seconds slow. My Grand Seikos are hanging their hands in shame!

Having tried the watch on both bracelets, which do you prefer? Does the oyster-style bracelet work better with the watch's height? I put mine on a leather strap, and as much as I like it, it's just too tall on my wrist. I wish they would've slimmed the case a bit (maybe flat sapphire instead of double domed and a standard caseback instead of the exhibition one).

I own a Pelagos and I’d pick the Seamaster after my experience with just 1-2 weeks of Pelagos ownership. A watch with a 500m water resistance, helium escape valve, and a $5000 price tag has its bezel lock up when it gets wet. This is a common issue mentioned in the forums. It’s a BEAUTIFUL watch that based on looks I’d pick the Pelagos all day but if it doesn’t function, what’s the point??? Make sure to read the forums before making a purchase.

I just got the new black dial (after 2 years wait list), love it so much. I have a flat 7.5 wrist, so the dimensions are perfect for me. 41.5 is it’s true size, and it’s slim. It’s the 50mm lug to lug which forces a wider wrist. GMT and Explorer always felt a little small, this one is the sweet spot for me. I like that Rolex offers different size models for different sizes guys, there isn’t a right size. Nice vid.
